hobo dinners
Well this thread has been dead for too long. So I'm gonna give u guys a treat. My daughter really loves these because she can do it herself. They are also quite healthy. Kinda. This is a very simple thing that those of us with kids can use for a family interactive dinner. Also they are dirt cheap to make.
So here is how to make a hobo dinner
You will need-
Aluminum foil
Ground beef
whatever canned veggies u like
canned new potatoes
butter
water
First cut aluminum foil into 2 ft pieces. I double up so for every person u need 2 pieces.
next patty up some hamburgers
open your veggies and potatoes
Place burger's in the middle of the foil. Season them as u like. I use Montreal steak seasoning.
top with some of all your veggies and some potatoes.
Form a kind of bowl with the foil
top with 1 tbsp of butter
add 1/4 cup of water. Don't forget this its important.
now fold in the edges of the foil for a good seal.
its ready for the oven or u can use a grill. Oven @375 for about an hour or so. On the grill its different cause its hotter. U just have to kind of wing it. But make sure the meat is cooked, especially if kids are eating. Should be around the same amount of time to cook.
When they are done be careful when opening. ADULTS ONLY. steam will come out.
Now just transfer dinner to a plate and enjoy. We usually have enough to feed a small army.
let me know what u think this is a total family fav, and its on the cheap.

Re: hobo dinners
Interesting way to get the kids eating their veggies. If they make it, I'm sure they are more likely to eat it... nice one!
